How to Book an Appointment for Mexican Passport

Applicants are allowed to make an appointment by visiting the following locations in person, calling the local consulates or registering online.

Passport Appointment by Phone

Mexican government launched the MEXITEL helpline for passport appointment. You can call the helpline at 877-639-4835 and ask for help. The operators can speak English and Spanish. It is designed for applicants around the world as long as you dial it during business hours. It opens from 9:00 am – 10:00 pm on weekdays and 11:00 am – 7:00 pm on weekends or holidays. Please make sure that the consulate you are going to allow you to book the appointment by phone.

Passport Appointment Online

There are times when you try to call the consulate only to find the line continuously engaged. It would be quite frustrating to hear the busy signal or the robot message saying that phone appointment is not available. The good news is that you can use MiConsulado, an online service for global Mexican passport appointments. In this section, we are going to introduce how to use it.

  • Part 1: Create an Account

New users have to register on the website. Go to https://citas.sre.gob.mx/. Click on “crear cuenta”. The web page is in Spanish by default. If you don’t know Spanish, click the “Idioma” at the top right corner and choose “EN” to shift to English. If you already have an account, just log in with your email address (Correo electrónico) and password (Contraseña), and skip to Part 3.

  • Part 2: Provide Personal Information

It will gather your nationality, the location that you apply from, name, and contact information. Fields with “*” marks refer to a must-fill. Finally, check the box to agree to the terms and conditions and click “Register”.

After all these are done, a confirmation email will be sent to the mailbox you just offered. Please click the link after “validate your account” to finish registration.

  • Part 3: Book an Appointment

You will be directed to a new page in the last step. Click on the “Schedule” button at the top right corner. In this section, you need to choose the place where you are going to attend the appointment, select the service, enter personal information, and view required documents, etc. It will list the nearest consulates around you. Just pick one and click the “Select” button below it. If your desired one does not appear on the list, it means the online appointment is unavailable yet. You should check later or choose another one. After completing the form, a new window will pop up with a calendar where you can choose the date and time you can visit the consulate.

The available date will be marked with labels with different colors: green for highly available, yellow for less available, and orange for almost unavailable. There would be no mark if that day is unavailable, which means time for the vacation or full booking.

How to Cancel the Appointment for Mexican Passport

What if I haven’t prepared for my applications?

What if I can’t attend the appointment on time?

How can I change the predetermined time?

Then you should cancel the booking and make another appointment in case you are identified as a dishonest applicant. Go to the MEXITEL website again and log in. Visit the “Scheduled appointments” section and find the red trash can icon beside the pre-scheduled time you have made. Click the icon and remove it from your appointment.
